Please have your child clean out their Language Arts folder of all Wizard of Oz papers and their History folders of all papers pertaining to mountains. Some of their folders are very full and it is hard for them to find the papers they need now.

The fourth grade teachers will begin tutoring after school on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45. If you are interested, you must sign up on sign up genius (the link is provided in the left column) with the child’s name and the specific topic you would like him/her to be tutored in. This way we can prepare meaningful sessions with the child. This is not a homework session but a time where we can work individually or in small groups on a concept the student is struggling with.

I can tell the students have been reviewing their phonograms. There are still a few that are giving them trouble but I’m sure with more practice they will know them all soon. We will have a spelling and phonogram test on Friday.

Everyone did a great job in reciting their poems; I was very proud of them. We will have poems they memorize periodically so they can build up to their major project of reciting “Paul Revere’s Ride” near the end of the school year.

We will begin diagramming simple sentences this week in Language Arts. We are also continuing with making summaries and taking dictation.

In math, we will study estimation in problem solving. We continue to incorporate the model method of teaching into each lesson. There will be a test on Friday. Knowing their math facts is integral for the children to build upon what they already know. Please review multiplication facts regularly with your child.

We are finishing meteorology with a test on Wednesday. Our next topic will be the scientific method.

We’ve had some great discussions about Pollyanna. Ask your child how to play the glad game, maybe you can play it as a family. There will be a quiz on Thursday on chapters 1-15.

I’ve noticed that the agendas are not getting signed everyday by all the parents. As a result, some children are not turning in all their assignments. Please make sure that these are signed after your child shows you all their work that way we can be sure they are getting everything finished. Thanks for partnering with me in this.

We are collecting box tops!!!

Please clear out the “take home” folder as well as the Language Arts and History folders.
