I hope everyone is having a great break. Mine has been a blessing and it will continue as my son and his wife come in from Virginia this week and we can all be together again : )

I just wanted to put in a few reminders and announcements.

First, I hope everyone has been diligently memorizing Paul Revere’s Ride to be recited on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of January. This is the fourth grade project and is for a grade. Please work on articulation, fluency and expression.

Next, we will be going to the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum) on Friday, January 15th. This link serves as a permission slip. https://archwaylincoln.mycustomevent.com/ShoppingCart.aspx?com=detailview&iid=38&&returncom=productlist&source=search
Most of you probably already signed up at the beginning of the year but I know we have some newer students who may not have and it may have gone under the radar for others. Please make sure you sign up, I’m looking forward to going with the whole class.

Last, you probably noticed that there are parent/teacher conferences scheduled for the 4th and 5th of January. These are by invitation only. I will be emailing the parents whom I would like to meet with.

Enjoy the rest of your break and feel free to email me if you have any questions.

We will be having an end of the semester Middle Ages Party on Friday, December 18th. If anyone is interested in helping, please send me an email and I’ll pass your name on to the parents who are putting it together. We can have 3 parents help out.

We also have a field trip coming up on January 15th to the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum). We can take 3 parent chaperons, so I’ll make it first come, first served. Just email me if you would like to help out.

**The students were handed out the complete poem of Paul Revere’s Ride. Memorizing this is the fourth grade project that will be recited during project week (January 6-8). There is a date (our class is due each Friday not Wednesday) that each stanza should be memorized by. Please make it a priority to memorize a couple of lines each day, making it a much easier task to complete.

The next 14 lines of “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” (lines 57-72 “A second lamp in the belfry burns.”) are due this Friday.

The poem can be found in The Harp and Laurel Wreath on pages 94-99.

In math, we’ll continue in fractions this week. We are seeing how multiplication and division are closely related to fractions, so please review multiplication facts regularly with your child.

The geology test will cover volcanoes, geysers and rocks/erosion. The test will be on Thursday. We will have ongoing review. The students have their study guides and have been filling them out as we go.

We finish Robin Hood with a quiz on Friday.

I have started letting the students eat their lunch in the classroom a few days a week so we can discuss comprehension questions in Robin Hood, science and history. This is an optional time to have extra discussions.

Here’s some helpful information about the Tax Credit:

       Tax Credit 2015

Thanks to each one of you for your continued support of Archway Lincoln and the Lincoln community.
Archway Lincoln depends on Tax Credit contributions from our families and friends to fund extra-curricular and character-building activities. Married couples can contribute up to $400 and individuals up to $200 and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit against their Arizona state taxes.
While each of you are spending quality time with your relatives, this is a wonderful time to ask grandparents, relatives, and friends to support Archway Lincoln through our Arizona Public School Tax Credit Drive…at no cost to you!
And what better way to spread some holiday cheer than to have a friendly Tax Credit student competition.
  • For EVERY +1 your student brings into Archway Lincoln, they will receive a raffle ticket, which will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win an iPad-mini.
  • The class who is able to receive the MOST +1’s per student will receive a free spaghetti dinner with their family served by the faculty.
The last day to take advantage of this offer is 12/31/2015. The drawing will take place the week of 1-11-2016.
Please direct any questions to Shannon Graffius at Sgraffius@archwaylincoln.org

Thank you so much for the tissues that have come in. It is much appreciated!

We are still collecting box tops : )

Please clear out the “take home” folders regularly. The only thing that should be in there is homework to return and any papers that help with that homework.
