IMPORTANT DATE:
Spalding Night is September 22nd from 6:30-8. Come on out to gain a better
understanding of this essential subject.
Please make sure your child is reviewing their phonograms
each night, find out which ones give them pause and zero in on them. We will have a spelling and phonogram test
on Friday
.
In Language Arts, we’re moving into verbs this week. We are also continuing with making summaries and
taking dictation.
The students seem to understand the Order of Operations in math, this will be a good foundation for
future lessons. We will have a short quiz on this on Wednesday. We will be focusing on learning the “model” method that
Singapore uses this week, starting with addition. I know you may be thinking “addition?",
my student is beyond that. The reason is it is very important they comprehend
how to break down word problems using this method and we must start with the
basics. Knowing their math facts is integral for the children to build upon
what they already know. Please review
multiplication facts regularly with your child.
We are continuing in meteorology with climate and weather maps
and symbols. We will also review throughout the week to prepare for the Meteorology test on Tuesday the 29th.
The students did well on their mountains test and we have
been studying the Middle Ages. We
will be on this unit for a while. Please
help your student clean out their folders of all mountain worksheets as they
will not need these in them anymore.
We are finished with The Wizard of Oz. I hope your
student enjoyed going deeper into this book. Your student can also take out all of these papers, too, so there
is room for Pollyanna. Please
have them bring this book in and they can take home The Wizard of Oz.
Please clear out the
“keep at home” side of the “take home” folder each day and check and sign the
agenda everyday as well!
