Dear 4A Parents:

Our class won a pizza party because of our awesome parents! Ms. Walls class and our class tied for most tax credit donations. Thank You!

  • There aren't any important dates to share for this week. We do have a full week of academics, though.

Our second science test in Meteorology will be on Tuesday. The students should have their study guides filled out so we can go over it tomorrow in class. There will be a math assessment on Thursday. It will cover what they have been learning about decimals. We finish Wizard of Oz this week. We will have an in-class essay as the final assessment for the book on Friday. On Thursday, we will do a pre-writing for the essay and they will take it home to refine for homework. There is a potential AZ history test on Friday. If it isn't on Friday it will be on the following Monday.

As we near the end of this quarter, please encourage your child to continue to to finish their homework and to do it well. Make sure you are looking in your child's take-home folder for their returned and graded work. Remember, I want them to correct any graded papers and return them so they understand what they got wrong.

We are running out of tissue again : ( Any boxes would be appreciated.

Have a good week,
Mrs. Gore

4A Parents:

We had such a good time at the MIM. We were only able to see a fraction of what the museum has to offer, so I hope you will be able to go and experience it at another time with your child. I want to thank our chaperones, Mrs. Mewhinney, Mrs. Johnson, and Mrs, Robinson. They were a big help to Mrs. Ryan and me!

Academics this week:

We will be continuing in Wizard of Oz. In meteorology, we will finish up with tornadoes and hurricanes and the students will receive the next study guide. In AZ history, we begin European exploration and the coming of the Spaniards. We will begin dividing decimals in math.

  • Please make sure to check your student's agenda each night and look for any returned work. I want them to finish this quarter strong and continue to get their assignments in on time and completed well.

Have a good week,
Mrs. Gore

Dear 4A:

Wow! Your awesome children did such a great job on field day that they came back to class with the gold wreath for 4th grade and more importantly they got the Sportsmanship Award for all 3rd-5th grades! It was a fun day for everyone. Your children a such a blessing!

Our field trip is this Friday. We will be leaving the school at 8:15 so please have your student at school by 7:50 so we don't have to rush. They are to wear their school uniform. Make sure your child brings in a bag lunch because we will be eating lunch at a park near the museum. Please check the payment portal under field trip to see if you have paid. I cannot check this, so if you have any questions about it, please contact the office.

Remember next Monday, the 20th, is Presidents' Day and there is no school.

Also we do not celebrate Valentine's Day, so please do not send any candy or cards to school with your child. The opera will perform for us on that day.

Academics this week:

Tests in Wizard of Oz on Tuesday and AZ history on Thursday. They already have both study guides. We will still have our spelling test on Friday.

In science, we will study thunderstorms and tornadoes. We will learn to multiply decimals in math.

Please make sure to check your student's agenda each night and look for any returned work. I want them to finish this quarter strong and continue to get their assignments in on time and completed well.

Have a great week!
Mrs. Gore

Dear 4A:

I think these next 2 weeks will fly by. We have many activities coming up that I hope you are aware of.

This week we have our Field Day on Thursday and an early release on Friday which is also Great Hearts Day.

Hot lunch will not be served on Field Day, the students will be eating in class and having an academic contest from information that they have learned so far this year. Our class will represent Thebes during the day and our color is yellow. So please have your student wear a yellow shirt, if possible. We could also use a couple of volunteers to go around with our class and help with water and other things that might arise. We can use some donations of water bottles and fruit (cuties, apple slices etc.) for snacks. Please let me know if you can help in any of these things

The school is also asking for more volunteers to help with the running of field day.
Here's the link if you would like to help: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e084fada62ca2f85-athletic1

Please see my post from last week about Great Hearts Day and Valentine's Day.

Friday the 17th will be our field trip to the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum). Thank you to all the parents who were willing to chaperone, we have 3 who will be accompanying us. Please check the payment portal under field trip to see if you have paid. I cannot check this, so if you have any questions about it, please contact the office.

There will be no school on Monday, February 20 in celebration of Presidents' Day.

Academics this week:
We will be reading Chapters 14 and 15 in Wizard of Oz and working on the study guide for the next test (which will be the next week).

In history, we will study the ancient Arizonans and continue working in our lap book.

In science, we will watch demonstrations on heat transference and study air masses and weather fronts.

We continue with decimals in math. I was VERY pleased with the latest math test, everyone did well on it!

Thank you to the families who brought in tissues!

I hope you have a good week,
Mrs. Gore
