Athletic Field Day is coming March 10th! The Archway students will compete in a half day of ancient Greek and modern-day Olympic themed events such as baton relay races, shot put and more! Students will be creating ancient Greek cuffs to wear during their competitions. Please send toilet paper and paper towel rolls to school for them to prepare and decorate in Art class.

We are looking for 15-20 volunteers to help organize and facilitate the athletic events. The day will be split up into two parts with grades K-2 participating in the morning followed by grades 3-5 participating in the afternoon. Volunteers will receive early communication regarding the events and need to be available for a walk-through 30-45 minutes prior to the event.

Please follow this link to sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e084fada62ca2f85-athletic. Please email Coach Cook with any questions: dcook@archwaylincoln.org. Thank you for your support!

Please don’t send snacks with sugar in them for snack time.

As we are quickly coming to the close of the quarter, please make sure your child has made up all of their missing work. I have been writing it in their agenda, so please check it each night.

This week the students will have a take home, open note quiz for history and their regular spelling test. Next week they will have a math test on Wednesday or Thursday and a science test on Wednesday or Thursday. I’ll have to see how the week goes to determine which is which.

They will be typing up their final draft of their persuasive essay and that will be due next week also.

*This class goes through tissues at an alarming rate! We are out again. If you could bring in a box or two, it would be greatly appreciated. We could also use more band aids.

Please clear out the “take home” folders regularly. The only thing that should be in there is homework to return and any papers that help with that homework.

Please check your child’s agenda each night. I’ve been writing in the missing assignments and hoping they will be returned the next day so their grade will not be affected too much. I have extra copies of everything available if your student needs them.

I was very pleased with the grades on the chemistry test. They seemed to really understand it and enjoyed learning it. We are studying some more about the scientific method this week and then we will go on to magnetism and electricity.

They also did well on their history test. They will continue with ancient people of Arizona this week.

We finish up Prince Caspian this week. Their test on chapters 8-15 will be on Friday.

On Tuesday, we will be doing Galileo testing. This isn’t something they study for. It just lets me know how they are progressing.

Don’t forget that Friday is a half day. We will have a Great Hearts celebration in our classroom after the assembly. You should have gotten an email about this. If not, let me know and I’ll make sure you’re in the know : )

Also, don’t forget that there is no school on Monday due to President’s Day!

Thanks to all who donated boxes of tissues : ) Please keep them coming, they are still greatly needed and much appreciated! We could also use more band aids.
