4A Parents:

Our class won a Popsicle party because we collected the most box tops in 4th grade! Let's keep collecting them so we can have another one : )

So many students dressed up for Literature Day and they had some great costumes! It was fun to watch them get in character.

Thank you to all who participated in the Read-A-Thon. Our class raised over $1,000!! As a result, many of the students will be able to participate in sock day, crazy hair day, and a kick ball game.

Important Dates:
Fall Concert - Thursday, November 17th - This is mandatory.

  • We are collecting empty, small food cardboard boxes (like mac and cheese and cracker boxes). They will be used by the PSO to make decorations for the Fall Concert.
  • The fourth grade is collecting stuffing for our school-wide food drive.
The students will be having a spelling bee and the top finishers in class will compete for the school and continue on from there. A study list is available as a link under Resources in the side bar.

We will have a test in Middle Ages on Wednesday, and on Friday there will be a math and spelling test.

We will be finishing up Prince Caspian on Friday and the test will be at the beginning of the next week. Our next book will be Robin Hood.

Thank you for entrusting your wonderful students to me, I appreciate all you do at home that helps them to be such good scholars in class!

Greetings 4A parents,

I hope your break was restful. It was so good to meet with each of you for conferences. I appreciate you and your student for helping to make this an enjoyable and encouraging year!

I know that some of you are eager to study for the upcoming spelling bee, so I've included a link to some more spelling words and study tips under Resources.

I've also added Ms. Voron's, the art teacher's, blog link.

Next Friday, the 28th, will be "dress like your favorite character" day. A permission slip will go home today for you to fill out if your child would like to dress up (it is an optional activity).

I'll update you more on Sunday about the upcoming week.

Have a good weekend : )

Dear 4A parents, please read this message about the Usborne book fair:
Thank you for coming out to support our book fair! It was great seeing our students purchase new books for their personal libraries and class libraries. For the benefit of the parents who did not have the opportunity to visit the book fair, purchases can now be made online for the rest of the month.  The last day to shop will be Monday, October 31st. To access the Efair, click on this link . An excel file has been attached to this email that gives you access to teachers' wish lists, click on your child’s grade section to access the list.
(I have included what was left of my wish list. Many of you have already been so generous in donating books for our library, this was all I had left!)

This week in 4A:

Important dates:
Usborne Book Fair – September 29th -October 5th
Friday, October 7thEarly release
Fall Break - October 10th-14th
Mandatory Fall Conferences – October 17-19th

Academics this week:
Our final geology test will be on Thursday. They already have their study guide for this.

Our second test in Middle Ages will be on Friday. They will be getting the study guide for this on Tuesday.

As always, there will be a spelling/phonogram test on Friday.

We will begin to talk about the poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride”, this week. Memorizing this poem is the big project for fourth grade. Each student will recite it during project week which occurs the first three days after the students get back from winter break (Jan. 4-6). We will be memorizing it systematically throughout next quarter.

Our Read-a-Thon officially starts Monday. Each student brought home a login with instructions on how to get started. This is an optional activity; it has no bearing on the student’s grade. It is just a fun activity that can help raise funds for our classrooms and library.

Students can log in and start reading/logging time NOW. However, the Read-a-Thon officially starts Monday, so any minutes reading they log this weekend won't count in terms of ranking students by minutes read, etc. The minutes that students read during class time and for their reading logs should also be logged in each day.

Please continue reviewing phonograms and math facts with your child!

I hope that each one of you has a restful, fun, and safe break! I’ll see you for your individual conference on October 17-19th.

Thank You!
