Dear 4A Parents:

This is the week of the Spring Choral Concert. Please read the following from Ms. Blasi, our music teacher:

Our Spring Music Concert is this Thursday. Students have been working hard, and we look forward to performing for you in the Archway Lincoln gym on Thursday, April 27th!

Concert Start Time: 3rd-5th Grade - 6:30-7:30 PM

All 3rd-5th Grade students should report to their classrooms at 6 PM.

Concert attendance is MANDATORY, and all students are expected to stay for the entire concert.

At the concert this April, we will be doing an eye glass drive in partnership with the Chandler Chapter of the Lion's Club. We will be collecting used eye glasses for those in need. Please start looking for old eye glasses you have around the house that you might want to donate. The eye glasses can be for both children and adults.

You can order your concert DVD at the following link:

Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you have! I look forward to seeing you at our Spring Concert!

We also take the last part of the AZ Merit tomorrow (Monday the 24th).

Academics this week:

We continue with chapters 13-16 in Carry On, Mr. Bowditch.
In science, we begin our second week of the circulatory system.
We will have a history test on Thursday for chapters 11-14 in our American Revolution Unit.
We will have a math test on Friday on graphs.

As we are nearing the end of the quarter, I want you to remind your student to continue to do their best and finish strong. Some performance notices will go out on Tuesday and I want to encourage you that there is time to bring up poor grades.

Hardly a week goes by when I don't get a positive comment about how wonderful my class is and I can only respond with a heartfelt, "I know!" What a blessing it is to come in each day and be able to teach each and every one of them!

Thank you, Mrs. Gore

Dear 4A Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed the R&R weekend. Our week looks busy with some tests and our second AZ Merit test on Friday.

On Thursday night, we will do our best to send your children home with little or no homework so they can get a good night's rest before AZ Merit. This test is part one of the Math and Language Arts portion; part two will take place on Monday, April 24th. Once again, please send your child to school with a labeled snack and water bottle. I heard excellent reports of their perseverance during the writing test, so thank you for stressing the importance of taking one's time. Please encourage this behavior for the remaining tests as well.

In Language Arts, we are asking that the students bring their sources for their historical figure to school on Tuesday, April 25. This should include any books or printed web pages. We will be teaching the students how to keep track of their sources, so writing a bibliography is an easier process. Additionally, we will be teaching the students how to sort their information and put it into the appropriate paragraphs.

In History, we are continuing our unit on the American Revolution and the events leading up to war. I passed back the graded tests from last Thursday, so be sure to check in with your student about their grade.

In Science, we are finishing our unit on plants and taking our quiz today (Tuesday). Once we finish, we will begin our unit on the circulatory system.

The students received their literature tests, also. We continue reading about Nathaniel
Bowditch and his fascinating life. We have had good discussions in class about hardship and perseverance.

Please look in their take-home folder for all the assignments that have been graded and handed back.
Thank you for all of your support and have a wonderful week,
Mrs. Gore
