Dear 4A Parents:

Our last week!!

This has been such a wonderful year for me. Your children have truly been a joy to teach! I hope they continue to grow in their love of learning.

This week's information:
Wednesday-Friday are early release days. Please pick up your child at 12:30 on these days.
Wednesday from 8:45 to 9:25 we have our Continental Breakfast in the classroom. Some presentations of historical figures will take place at this time (those who elect to dress up and/or whose parents are attending). The rest will take place throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday. If you would like to watch your child's presentation, please email me so I can give you a time-frame to work with.

Academics:
Science test on Respiratory System on Monday.
Presentations and souvenirs on Wednesday and Thursday.
Spalding test on Friday.
Poem Recitation on Friday.

This is obviously the last week to correct grades and turn in any missing work. Let's encourage our children to finish strong!

Thanks for a great year!
Mrs. Gore

Dear 4A Parents:

My school email is on the blink this weekend, so if you've emailed me I'm not trying to avoid you :). I hope to get it fixed tomorrow.

Mrs. Ryan and I will be staying after school tomorrow to help with research papers. Please let me know if your child would like to stay until 4:15. (Hopefully, my email will be up but if it isn't you can either email Mrs. Ryan or call the school.) We can only help about 6, so it's first come, first served. I will also help during recess and lunch.

Important dates:

  • All school library books are due tomorrow, May 15th.
  • May 24th-26th are early release days. The students are finished and to be picked up at 12:30.
  • Continental Breakfast May 24th, Presentations are 24th and 25th.

Academics:
We will be working on the research paper during class and what is not finished then will be for homework. The final typewritten paper is due on Friday the 19th. The souvenir is due on the day of the presentation. This is to be a homemade, inexpensive reminder of the person your child is representing. The presentation can be a tri-fold, PowerPoint, poster or something similar. Your child has the guidelines and other reference material for these and also for the research paper.

History test on the American Revolution - Wednesday.
Math test on volume - Wednesday.
Literature final for Carry On, Mr. Bowditch - essay on Friday. The students will receive the prompt for the essay on Thursday and will be working on writing a rough draft on Thursday to be prepared for the final paper on Friday.
The science test on Respiration will be Monday, May 22nd.

The grades for many this quarter are not looking as good as they were last quarter. This is due to incomplete and missing work. Please check the emails from Jupiter each Friday which you will receive if your child has missing work. Please have your child make up the missing assignments and/or any assignments they did not do well on. Thank you.

Thank you, as always, for allowing me to be a part of your child's life,
Mrs. Gore

Dear 4A Parents:

I am so grateful to be your child's teacher. You have been such an encouragement throughout the year and I really appreciate it!

Important dates:
No school on Friday, May 12th - It is an R&R weekend, too
Wednesday May 24th we will have a Continental Breakfast to celebrate the end of the Revolutionary War Unit. I will have a list of items that you can bring for it available shortly.

Academics:
In Language Arts, we are approaching the end of Mr. Bowditch...hopefully we can make it through without any more heartbreak! Our last Bowditch test is schedule for Friday, May 19th. This will be in the format of an in-class essay. The students will receive the prompt one day prior and spend the class time writing out a draft.

For our research project, we will be turning our notes into an outline, which will help with writing the rough draft. The final typewritten paper will be due on Friday, May 19th with presentations on May 24th and May 25th (if needed). Any student who would like to dress up as their figure will present on May 24th during a classroom celebration (details to follow soon).

In History, we are wrapping up our unit on the American Revolution and segue into learning more about the Constitution. The final test will take place on Tuesday, May 16th, with a review taking place the Monday before.

In Science, we began our new unit on the respiratory system and discussed how it relate to the circulatory system (ask your scholars!) Our final test for science will take place during the last week of school, with a date to be announced next week.

Greatly Encouraged,
Mrs. Gore

Dear 4A Parents:

I heard your students performed wonderfully at the Spring Concert. I hope you all enjoyed it. I know the students enjoyed performing for you.

There is no school on Friday, May 12th.

Academics this week:

  • Today-Test on Chapters 9-16 on Carry On, Br. Bowditch
  • A circulatory test is scheduled for Friday, it may be pushed back to Monday. For now it's still Friday. Our next unit will be the respiratory system. We are all enjoying studying our amazing bodies!
  • We will be wrapping up the American Revolution sometime next week and then we'll continue with the Constitution.
  • In math we are exploring volume.
  • The students are doing a good job on their note cards for their research project. We've all enjoyed learning about so many people who've contributed to our nation's beginning.
As the year winds down, it is easy for the students to slack off in their studies. I hope you encourage you child to finish strong :)

Have a great week,
Mrs. Gore
